ABOUT PLATYPUS ANALYTICS

Practical water treatment analysis, backed by engineering experience.

The Platypus Jar Tester and DAF Test Accessories were developed by renowned water industry engineer Bill Day, who designed and commissioned many of Australia’s water treatment plants. Platypus Analytics is now led by Process Control Engineer Colin Millen, who worked alongside Bill for around three decades.

THE PRODUCTS

Designed on the bench, refined in the field.

Bill Day developed the Platypus Jar Tester and Platypus DAF Test Accessories as practical tools for the bench-scale analysis of primary water treatment processes. The equipment enables small-scale process trials to evaluate and optimise chemical dosing in operating water, wastewater and industrial treatment plants, as well as assess treatment processes and dosing options for new and existing facilities.

Colin Millen worked alongside Bill on engineering projects for approximately three decades before acquiring the business following Bill’s passing. That long-standing professional relationship provides Platypus Analytics with continuity in the engineering knowledge, practical thinking and design principles behind the products.

With more than 40 years of process-control engineering experience across water treatment and related industries, Colin brings extensive practical knowledge to Platypus Analytics. This experience supports informed conversations with customers about equipment selection, testing objectives and the effective ongoing use of Platypus equipment.
